How to record to external storage

Steps to record HawkTV to an external storage device.

  1. Connect External Storage: Plug your USB drive into your Android TV box or Fire TV device.

  2. Format the Drive (if needed): Ensure the drive is formatted to a compatible file system, such as FAT32 or exFAT.

  3. Open HawkTV: Launch the HawkTV app on your device.

  4. Navigate to Recording Settings: From the main menu, go to Settings > Other > Recordings.

  5. Select a Folder:
    • Click on the current folder path.

    • Choose the System Picker to browse available storage locations.

    • If prompted, allow HawkTV to access the storage.

  6. Create a New Folder (Recommended): Navigate to your connected USB drive and create a new folder (e.g., "My Recordings") to store your recordings.

  7. Confirm the Folder: Select your newly created folder and confirm that it is selected for use.

  8. Start Recording: Your recordings will now be directed to the external storage device.

Tips for a smooth experience:
  • You may need an OTG (On-The-Go) cable and/or a USB hub to connect the drive and provide enough power, especially on devices like Fire Sticks.

  • File System:
Use FAT32 or exFAT for the USB drive for optimal compatibility.

  • Folder Name:
Some users have found success creating a specific folder (e.g., "HawkTV") on the USB drive for recordings.

  • Permissions:
Ensure that the HawkTV app has been granted "Files and Media" permissions in the device's app settings.
